Governor Cuomo has announced a proposal to significantly improve and simplify our wetlands laws to ensure that our last remaining large wetlands are protected. The legislature needs to hear from the public that they also support protecting large wetlands from further destruction and pollution.

Protecting our remaining wetlands is important because they preserve community character in the face of climate change; lessen the impacts of flooding; filter pollutants; and provide habitat to wildlife. Each acre of freshwater wetlands can store up to 1.5 million gallons of floodwaters!

Urge your state legislators to support Governor Cuomo’s proposal for protecting large wetlands.
