Riverkeeper is pleased to present the Big Fish Award to actor and environmentalist Mark Ruffalo in honor of his outstanding commitment to the causes of clean water and clean energy. Mark is co-founder of Water Defense, which works to create a world where water is safe to drink, oceans don't rise and the economy is powered by clean, sustainable sources of energy. Mark has dedicated himself to keeping drinking water supplies and other natural resources safe from the impacts of hydrofracking for natural gas, and to helping communities that are suffering from poisoned water, air, and other impacts. His energetic leadership has helped to build a national movement to put our communities and our environment before fossil-fuel industry profits.
