Powering past Indian Point
On April 30, Indian Point's final reactor will shut down for good.
Closing the plant was one of Riverkeeper's longest and most hard fought battles — spanning decades. With the plant's final shutdown, one billion fish will be saved each year, allowing the Hudson's fish a fighting chance at a comeback.
This milestone does not mark the end of the discussion about Indian Point, however. There are immediate issues to address and even more on the horizon regarding safe decommissioning, a just transition for affected workers and communities, environmental justice, and a clean, safe energy future for New York.
Riverkeeper has spent decades on this case, and with your help, we'll continue to ensure that the decommissioning of this dangerous and antiquated facility is completed with the best interests of the local communities and environment in mind.
Please join Riverkeeper today to ensure the safe decomisssioning of Indian Point and the restoration of the Hudson River for future generations.
